Lungau, wonderful for skiing and snowboarding

The perfect stay for skiing and snowboarding in Lungau

The st martin chalets are located in the middle of the high valley of the Lungau holiday region. All around are the Tauern and Nock mountains and therefore wonderful ski areas for skiing and snowboarding!

Regardless of whether you are a skier or a snowboarder – in the Lungau ski areas of Katschberg-Aineck, Fanningberg, Obertauern, Grosseck-Speiereck and other small lifts such as Schönfeld, St. Michael-Petersbründl, Zederhaus and Lessach you will find more than 300 kilometers of perfectly groomed ski slopes of various levels of difficulty.

Four snow-sure and sunny ski areas offer everything your heart desires for skiing and snowboarding. This is ensured by ski schools for beginners to advanced skiers, ski rentals and attractive ski pass prices as well as the Lungo ski pass, which offers access to all four Lungau ski areas, 80 modern ski lifts and free use of the ski bus.

5 minutes walk to the lift

Grosseck-Speiereck, your chosen favorite ski area

In just 5 minutes you can walk from the St Martin Chalets to the Sonnenbahn St. Michael, which takes you up to Speiereck (1,100 to 2,410 meters above sea level). The Grosseck-Speiereck ski area offers almost 50 kilometers of pistes for carving, weaving and skiing. Excellent ski schools show beginners and experts the best techniques and, above all, warmly welcome children to child-friendly ski lessons.

SKIGEBIET GROSSECK-SPEIERECK

Discover ski areas

SKIGEBIET GROSSECK-SPEIERECK

Our local mountain is also the highest ski mountain in the region. The gondola takes you up to 2,400 meters. Continuous 100% snowmaking guarantees snow security up to 2,400 meters until sunny skiing at the end of the season in April.

Third place in the international ski area test also confirms that the slopes are well prepared. The ski area can be accessed from both Mauterndorf and St. Michael. The new valley run from the Speiereck summit to St. Michael has a height difference of 1,400 meters over a length of 8.5 kilometers. Families and children have fun on the Legendary Trail on the Mauterndorf valley run, which can be experienced on skis, or on the Hexenwald children’s adventure ski trail. Use of the How Fast Am I (WISBI) race track is free.

SKIGEBIET KATSCHBERG-AINECK

There is a lot of investment in the Katschberg-Aineck ski area; a new gondola lift to the Aineck was built in the summer of 2009. The new lift opens up around 30 hectares of slopes (Hochfeld, Karabfahrt and Snowbowle) and overcomes an altitude difference of 470 meters over a length of 1,700 m.

The new, three-kilometer-long run is called Snowbowle. In addition to the “old” exit and the “A1”, it represents the third option to get from the newly built Aineck summit cable car into the valley. The name Snowbowle has to do with the Aineck topography: the new route runs along a hollow that is known for its abundance of snow. So what could be more obvious than taking the “snow hollow” thing into account when naming it? It goes without saying that the new piste can be covered with snow in its entire length thanks to 35 brand new snow lances.

SKIGEBIET FANNINGBERG

The most modern lifts and wide, clear slopes are particularly suitable for families. The sunny, snow-sure family ski area offers every sports enthusiast enjoyable winter fun. Lifts such as the comfortable 6-seater Samson chairlift with weather protection hood or the 1,100 meter long Zirbenjet, a 6-seater chairlift with heated seats and weather protection hood, allow you to float away to lofty heights. Whether on skis or board, whether as a beginner or an expert, easy, medium and difficult slopes make every winter sports fanatic’s heart beat faster. The little ones play in a sunny location in the “Fanni Children’s Park” with well-known fairy tale characters and learn to ski very easily and playfully.

Rustic ski huts with products from their own farm invite you to stop off and the sun terraces invite you to relax.

SKIGEBIET OBERTAUERN

State-of-the-art lifts with countless kilometers of slopes invite you to have superlative fun on the slopes.

Regardless of whether you are a family or a true hobby racer, everyone will find suitable passages in the Obertauern ski area. The well-known Tauernrunde enables an extensive tour around the town, where you can work your way from lift to lift either clockwise or counterclockwise.

As early as 1965, the Beatles really let the boards crash while filming in Obertauern and discovered that the world is the most beautiful at the top!

Ski schools & childcare

You’re in the best of hands at one of the many ski schools

At Grosseck-Speiereck you can meet the friendly instructors from the St. Michael ski school. Group lessons, individual lessons, ski touring accompaniment, snowshoe tours – nothing is impossible. The ski schools in the Biosphere Lungau are known for their qualified children’s lessons and their tailor-made child care, for example during the supervised lunch break of the little ski students.

4 Top-ski areas in Lungau

There are four ski areas in Lungau with just one map. All of them can be reached very quickly from the chalets. A total of around 250 kilometers of slopes with just one ticket. We like to recommend the Lungo ski pass, which includes four ski areas and free transfer with the ski bus. Each ski area – Obertauern, Katschberg-Aineck, Grosseck-Speiererck and Fanningberg – has its own charms and special features that can be discovered particularly cheaply with the Lungo. That’s really more than enough variety for a vacation!
