One of the most unique regions in the European Alps! Salzburg Lungau is recognised for its natural beauty by UNESCO who have designated it a Man and Biosphere Reserve. It’s impossible not to talk about Lungau without singing its praises, it is one of the finest Alpine regions and packed full of nature and wildlife with over 60 mountain lakes, intact moor landscapes and towering peaks, which is why it has UNESCO Biosphere status.

St Michael is a working Austrian village unlike some of the other regions of the Tyrol or French Alps. We’re most definitely not a man-made tourist village. For example, the tradition of giant wooden Samson figures or the carrying the awesome 6-meter-high flower poles ‘Prangstangen’ is well known beyond the local area and are part of our cultural heritage.
