Well, the mountain ranges surrounding the ski resorts of st martin chalets in are in no way reserved for downhill skiers and snowboarders; they are also an ideal area for gentle snow shoe trekking, some fantastic winter hiking as well as some immense ski touring & off-piste skiing experiences! We can arrange a fantastic ski touring & off-piste skiing experience here in the Austrian Alps complete with your own guide and equipment, or we can show you where to go if you’re happy to head out by yourselves.

Our ski touring & off-piste routes vary in difficulty based on your preferences and ability – some are pure alpine terrain and some stick to the groomed slopes. Our goal is to expand your horizons, not to push you out of your comfort zone!

Winter sport far from the bustle of the slopes

A guided winter hike with snowshoes through Austria’s Lungau region is both invigorating and peaceful. The whole region lies above 1000 metres above sea level and the Lungau valley offers crystal-clear mountain air and wonderful scenery covered in sparkling snow. All you’ll need is a pair of good boots and normal winter sportswear, with lots of layers to peel off as you start to heat up. Sunglasses are also a must: winter in the Lungau is extra sunny. We have most equipment for hire if your missing anything.

It is also advisable to use the avalanche warning service and always inform someone of where you intend to go and your estimated time of return.

Once you are in, you never want out

There is one problem with a St Martin chalet, once you are in, you never want out. Life is so easy with the food delivered, restaurants taken care of and in case you run out of wine a handy racks full at the reception. The comforts of your own home, the family around you, the amazing food of Lungau region, the laid back atmosphere and the magic scenery. We went twice and we are looking to return again and again and again.

Now, I have added another thing to my Bucket List: returning to st martin chalets!

I planned for almost a year to find the perfect place to complete the #1 item on my Bucket List. I had aspired to dive in the GrunerSee. st martin chalets made it come true. They were able to do anything that I needed or wanted. When I arrived, they had already contacted a divemaster for me (Leo Maierhuber was wonderful). The area is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. Now, I have added another thing to my Bucket List: returning to st martin chalets!
