Golf Club Lungau (+43 6477 7448) is less than a mile away from the resort and, while you could probably walk there if you wanted to, you can also drive. If you feel like a few celebratory (or commiserative!) drinks in the 19th hole, we’ll come and collect you. Guests of st martin chalets receive a discount here and green fees entitle you to play all day. It’s a great course, despite looking a little flat from the club house.
Although we understand most golfers prefer to play with their own clubs, airlines like to charge a scary amount for transporting any type of sports equipment. We therefore work with our trusted local equipment supplier who hires out sets of golf clubs – from ladies clubs to left hand clubs – to save you the hassle and costs of bringing your clubs on the airlines. We also receive reduced green fees from Murau Golf Club (+43 3537 22221), which is based in the next county – the home of Arnold Schwarzenegger – but is still only 40 minutes away by car.
To the south lies Golf Club Millstätter See near Spittal (+43 4762 82548) is a great challenging course just 30 minute drive – situated on a hillside overlooking a stunning Alpine lake.
To the north, there is Radstadt (+43 6452 5111) – only half an hour’s drive towards Salzburg and featuring one hole that requires a trip in a cable car!
Slightly further on the same route you’ll find the Dachstein Tauern Golf and Country Club (+43 3686 2630) – a highly rated course that is perhaps worth a slightly longer drive.
If you are flying into Salzburg, there are several courses you could play before you head down to the resort. We know from positive feedback that Golf Club am Mondsee (+43 6232 38350) is a wonderful course to play, especially the back nine, which is focused around a large lake.
What is there not to like? 5* accommodation, great hosts and more things to do than you can shake a stick at. Currently sitting in the Panorama Alm drinking coffee whilst brushing the fresh powder off the jacket.

Once you are in, you never want out
There is one problem with a St Martin chalet, once you are in, you never want out. Life is so easy with the food delivered, restaurants taken care of and in case you run out of wine a handy racks full at the reception. The comforts of your own home, the family around you, the amazing food of Lungau region, the laid back atmosphere and the magic scenery. We went twice and we are looking to return again and again and again.

Now, I have added another thing to my Bucket List: returning to st martin chalets!
I planned for almost a year to find the perfect place to complete the #1 item on my Bucket List. I had aspired to dive in the GrunerSee. st martin chalets made it come true. They were able to do anything that I needed or wanted. When I arrived, they had already contacted a divemaster for me (Leo Maierhuber was wonderful). The area is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. Now, I have added another thing to my Bucket List: returning to st martin chalets!
