Our authentic Austrian self-catering chalets are perfect for families and groups, with handcrafted kitchens, cosy living rooms and fantastic outdoor areas that allow the whole family to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the Austrian mountains!
Whether you come for a weekend or longer - boredom will not be an issue, thanks to numerous activities that will more than entertain children of all ages (the fresh mountain air and plenty of exercise also ensure that your kids start the day well rested!).
Leisure activities galore

During the summer months, Lungau has almost every kind of family vacation you can imagine to offer (May to September, plus the Autumn half terms)
Get stuck into climbing, archery, canyoning, fishing, white water rafting, golfing, quad biking or horse riding during your stay. The indoor and open air pool complexes nearby are a favourite among our family guests, one even has an 18-hole mini-golf course too!
Adventurous kids will also love the ‘Outdoorparc Lungau’ with its low and high rope courses, zorbing, kayaking, climbing and bouldering course. Our local cycling paths are also excellent for all ages, with quiet open roads providing the perfect conditions for your younger cyclists to develop their confidence.
Culture for Kids
Summer also marks the start of amazing family friendly festivals and wonderful activities taking place here in Salzburg’s Lungau including the spectacular Samson Parades with giant figures 6.5m tall and the magical Prangstangen Flower Festival!
Or bring the Middle Ages back to life thanks to Mauterndorf Castle’s jousting area and a 44 m high defence tower, or their Knights and Princess costume making workshops. Or visit Castle Moosham’s torture chamber and enjoy their crossbow shooting and medieval games.
A trip aboard the Taurachbahn steam train through the picturesque Taurach valley is not to be missed, or why not enjoy the annual Lungau Family Festival during August, where bungee trampolines, climbing tower, Archery, a quad course and face painting await all ages!
Family Hiking Fun
Easy mountain and valley trails and crystal clear lakes mean Lungau really is the perfect family friendly alpine holiday destination!
The interactive nature trail near Lessach has fun activities for the kids, finishing at the Wildbachhütte playground area, with the extraordinary “Pyramids” at the foot of the Gumma are always popular too. Or the Leisnitz ‘Water Path’ walk near St. Margarethen takes you past the “Dwarf’s Cave”. Complete with a picture book and treasure map, the Alm or Inn also has a petting zoo, playground, and wildlife feeding station.
Of course, you have to head up into the mountains for nature at its best, taking the hard route by foot or the easy route by Ski lift or gondola. Just minutes from us, the St Michael Sonnenbahn lift up takes you to Speiereck 2,000 meters above sea level.

Our young visitors love the cosy twin bedrooms and large attic playrooms, each chalet has at least 6 beds in 3 double bedrooms, plus at least 3 toilets and 2 shower rooms or bathrooms, so you’ll all have plenty of your own space no matter what size family!
All of our wifi-connected chalets have cosy corners and wide open spaces to help you enjoy each others company. The big dining tables are perfect for some colouring, games and reading while our comfy lounge areas and sofas mean you can all enjoy a DVD or a console game when you all need some down time.
Our wonderful terraces and outdoor spaces are also perfect for some warm summer evening relaxation or BBQ surrounded by the mountain tops of Aineck, Grosseck & Speiereck.
