Lungau: one of Austria's most snow sure ski areas!

Our chalets are 5-minutes’ walk from the main St Michael lift – a chairlift that takes you up our nearest mountain, and up to one of Austria's most snow-sure ski areas, Speiereck-Grosseck. This is just one of five ski areas here in Lungau, all of which are served by one "Lungo" ski pass, which also includes the Katschberg, Aineck, Fanningberg and Obertauern ski regions.

Speiereck is our local (and favourite) mountain, although with all five resorts (and 250km of pistes), you'll hardly need to ski the same one twice! On Speiereck itself you’ll have instant access to 47km of pistes, served by an 8-man gondola, five chair lifts, two T-bars (always interesting!), two rope lifts and two magic carpets in the beginners’ area. The ski area is high, holds a wealth of possibilities to ski off-piste and is renowned for its good snow conditions – ranging from 1,100 metres right up to 2,410. Having said that, for those looking to get higher, Obertauern (1630 – 2310m) is only a short hop away. Either ski down the back-side of the Speiereck-Grosseck mountain and take the short ski bus from Mauterndorf, or simply jump on the bus that stops outside the chalets. Easy!

If you opt for the 'Lungo' ski pass, you can ski all five different mountains in the area, each of which is within easy reach of St Martin. In addition to Speiereck, you'll find Katschberg and Aineck on the opposite side of the valley, and Fanningberg and Obertauern to the North East. Each mountain range offers something completely different - from the wide open pistes (and lively apres ski) of Obertauern, to the tree-lined runs of Fanningberg and the top-to-bottom runs on Aineck. All te ski areas contain easily enough runs for a full day’s skiing and we'll make sure you find the best bits of each. We might even come with you!
