St Michael: shops, hire centres, bars and restaurants

Before you fly out to stay with us, we’ll probably ask you to fill out a shopping list form, so that we can go and do your shopping before you arrive. After all, who wants to arrive to an empty fridge?! We’ll also deliver fresh bread every morning. If you decide you need to top up during your stay, we have a road legal electric buggy, which is freely available to anyone needing to make a shopping trip (just remember to drive on the right!).

As well as a number of bars and restaurants, St Michael is home to all manner of shops, as well as banks (with ATM machines), supermarkets and various places of historical or cultural interest. There are numerous hotels – most of which have bars and restaurants and one of which equipped with a large pool, which is available to visitors as well as hotel guests. One restaurant (located on our side of St Michael) is owned by a lovely Icelandic family; they can often be found playing live music into the early hours and having a sign-song. It’s a contagious place and a real favourite among our regulars.

Slightly further afield is Tamsweg – the region’s capital city. Here you’ll find bigger businesses, as well as the hospital, railway station and various car hire outlets. Many of our guests hire cars at Salzburg airport so they can do some touring. We can point you in the right direction here too.
