The Chalets
Self catering accommodation in Austria you can feel good about!
We designed our chalets not only to offer some of the best self catering accommodation in Austria, but also to give travellers an option where green issues and the environment can play an important part. We believe in providing our guests with an experience they will keep coming back for, so while the St Martin Chalets are extremely luxurious, they're also good for the environment and great value. The chalets were built in a truly sustainable way; we believe in responsible travel, so the resort is constructed from locally sourced, energy efficient materials as well as being completely self-sufficient. Whether you're a green traveller or not, a stay in our self catering chalets can help you do your bit for the environment, whilst having a truly luxurious, comfortable, memorable holiday. You can read more about this in our green travel section.
St Martin Chalet holidays are also extremely family friendly. We do everything we can to give you a holiday you'll wantto come back for - so we pack your stay full of suggestions and activities. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do, but if you want to make the most of our local knowledge, you can. You can see one of our activity holiday programmes by clicking here.
As for the chalets, they're gorgeous (we're biased but we think you might agree!), spacious, well insulated and, despite being built with natural, locally sourced materials, they incorporate all modern conveniences and luxuries - from wood burners to heated ski boot racks. The chalets sleep anywhere between four and fourteen people (some are bigger than others) with a mixture of double and twin beds, sharing three toilets and a combination of shared/en suite bath and shower rooms. All of them feature a large lounge and dining area, equipped with a flat screen TV and various games and DVDs, although please let us know if this is a requirement, as the chalets do vary.
The large, handmade kitchens are fully equipped and a pleasure to use, without feeling isolated from the rest of the living area. What's more, throughout your stay, we'll keep you supplied with fuel for your wood burner, so you can indulge in a real fire after a day on the mountain!
For those of you who don't particularly want to cook, there are a variety of options available, including take-aways and the facility to have meals delivered in the evening. We'll also send you a food order form when you book, so that we can stock your fridge with supplies before your arrival. If you want cold beers or champagne waiting for you, just say the word! We also deliver fresh bread rolls every morning, so we'll make sure you don't go hungry.

Regardless of which chalet you take or how much self catering you end up doing (there are plenty of very reasonably priced restaurants nearby!), you may well decide to make use of the shared reception and fitness area, which includes a sauna, gym and relaxation area. In the summer, the terraces are a perfect suntrap and the natural pool is perfect for a quick dip, while the gym doubles up as a video lounge (equipped with projector and big screen), which is the perfect place for showing your latest action videos!
If you haven’t been to Austria in the summer, it’s definitely something to try: you’d be amazed at the climate (30 degrees by day but lovely and cool at night) and there are all sorts of activities to keep you entertained – from white water rafting to spectacular golf courses and hiking/biking routes. Lungau is a natural playground!
In terms of location, the chalets are just 2 minutes walk from the local inn and another 10 minutes from the picturesque town of St. Michael, where you’ll find the local shops, ski schools and local bars and restaurants. The main ski lift is in the same direction, although no more than 5 minutes walk. If you’re feeling lazy or want to zip across to the next ski area (all five of which are included in one ski pass), there’s a free ski bus stop at the end of our road.
