Cycling Holidays in Austria

Lungau is full of opportunities for cyclists – both on the roads and in the mountains. We have family-friendly cycle paths or more challenging cross-country routes for those in search of something more strenuous. Most inns and restaurants are cyclist-friendly, many of which have outdoor seating and gardens where they can serve you their local specialities. If you’d rather not bring your own bike, there are plenty of hire centres in St Michael and nearby.

One of the area's newer attractions is Lungau’s E-Bike network. We’ve been spearheading this initiative ourselves. Not only is it a sustainable form of transport, we also truly believe it’s an excellent facility for our guests. If you’d love to go on a cycling holiday, but there are members of your party with different fitness levels or ability, the E-Biike is the perfect solution. It’s a normal mountain bike, which has been modified with an inconspicuous battery pack. With four levels of acceleration, riders can coast downhill at their leisure, then use the battery to ride up the other side. It’s the perfect way for experienced riders and novices to ride together and, with a network of recharging stations already in place, you can ride for more than 80km per day without fear of running out of battery life!
