Spring skiing in Austria is a time for tee-shirts and rolled up sleeves! Like most of Europe, it seems, we've had some gorgeous warm weather this spring. Sometimes the heat can cause problems with snow conditions but we've had so much this year that it's going to be weeks, if not months, before it starts to disappear. There's nothing like a good base for putting our minds at ease.

As you can see from this picture, I'm partial to a bit of ski-touring myself. There's nothing like the freedom of getting out and about and away from everyone else. Usually I just do day trips but there are plenty of mountain huts here in Lungau, which means it's perfectly possible to do an overnight trip. And by huts, we're not talking roughing it. Some of the huts up here are gorgeous - equipped with cooking facilities, comfy beds and heaters.

If you fancy a spot of touring, it's not too late. The snow is still skiable until well into June in some places and there are 1, 2 or even 3-day options available. If you're feeling really brave you can even sleep in your own snowhole!
