The exciting news is that Lungau is getting a new 10 million Euro gondola this summer, making the region even more accessible to skiers and snowboarders alike. Why? Well, the new Doppelmayr Silverjet 2 will replace the existing Branntweinerlift and Ainecklift - the first of which was always a somewhat gruelling T-bar... not great for skiers - even worse for anyone on a snowboard. Taking their place, the new Silverjet 2 comes with 8-person gondolas, covers 2,250 metres and climbs a total of 520 metres. At an average speed of 22km/h, the ascent takes just 7 minutes.

This futuristic-looking, state of the art gondola removes one of the last bottlenecks in the Lungau ski region and shortens the journey time from the valley in St. Margareten to the Aineck summit by 10 minutes.

It's another great piece of news for all of us here in Lungau - folloowing Katschberg's recent awarding of the "International ski run seal of approval" and "Best Snow Machine 2011". Whatever next?!
